Overview

The Nova Titan Pro 16 Max is the largest and most capable phone we have ever built. It takes everything from the standard Titan Pro 16 and pushes it further: a bigger screen, a bigger battery, and a camera system built for people who genuinely use their phone as their only camera. This is not a small refresh. Nearly every internal component has been redesigned for this model, from the antenna layout to the way heat is drawn away from the chipset during long recording sessions.

Design and build

The Titan Pro 16 Max uses a grade 5 titanium frame, the same alloy used in some aerospace fittings, chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio rather than for marketing. The back glass is a dual ion-exchanged panel that has been drop-tested internally from 1.8 metres onto concrete, and the frame itself has a brushed finish that resists fingerprints far better than the polished frame used on last year’s model. The phone is available in four finishes: Slate, Titanium Natural, Desert Sand, and a limited Ocean Blue that will only be sold through this store and a handful of partner retailers.

Display

The display is a 6.9-inch LTPO panel with a variable refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz, which is what allows the always-on display to sip so little power. Peak brightness reaches 3000 nits outdoors, and the panel supports the wide colour gamut needed for HDR playback from every major streaming app. The bezels have been reduced by 12% compared to last year, and the earpiece has been moved under the display itself, something that took three redesigns of the top module to get right without hurting call quality.

Performance

Inside is our new Vortex X4 chipset, built on a smaller process node than the X3 used in the standard Titan Pro 16. In practice this means roughly 18% better sustained performance under heavy load, such as extended gaming sessions, while running slightly cooler thanks to the new vapour chamber cooling system. The Max ships with 16GB of RAM as standard, and storage options run from 256GB up to 1TB, with no card slot, consistent with the rest of the Titan line.

Camera system

The rear camera system has three lenses: a 50MP main sensor with a larger physical sensor size than the standard Titan Pro 16, a 48MP ultra-wide that doubles as a macro lens, and a 12MP periscope telephoto offering 5x optical zoom and up to 25x in digital zoom before quality drops off noticeably. Video has been a particular focus this year: the Max can record 4K at 120fps in our Pro codec, and for the first time supports external SSD recording over USB-C for creators who need higher bitrates than the internal storage can sustain over long takes.

Battery and charging

Battery capacity has grown to a point where all-day use is genuinely comfortable even for people who are on video calls for a large part of their working day. Charging is rated at 50W wired, reaching roughly 55% in 30 minutes, and 25W wireless on compatible pads. Battery health is guaranteed to remain above 80% of original capacity for at least 1000 full charge cycles, which is roughly three years of typical daily charging for most people.

Software and updates

The Titan Pro 16 Max ships with our latest operating system and will receive six years of both feature updates and security patches, matching the standard Titan Pro 16. A number of software features are exclusive to the Max at launch because of the extra RAM headroom, including on-device translation of video calls in real time and a local voice isolation mode for noisy environments that does not require an internet connection to work.

Durability and environment

The phone carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, tested to a depth of 6 metres for up to 30 minutes. The back glass and the screen glass are both made using a higher percentage of recycled material than any previous Titan phone, and the box itself is fully plastic-free, using moulded pulp packaging instead of the plastic trays used until two years ago.

In the box

The retail box includes the phone itself, a USB-C to USB-C cable rated for the full 50W charging speed, a SIM ejector tool, and basic printed documentation. A charging brick is not included, in line with the rest of the industry and our own sustainability targets; the phone works with any existing USB-C PD charger rated at 30W or higher for close to full speed charging.

Warranty and support

Every Titan Pro 16 Max comes with our standard two-year manufacturer warranty covering hardware defects under normal use. Accidental damage is not covered under the standard warranty; an optional Nova Care Plus protection plan is available separately at checkout and covers up to two incidents of accidental damage per year, subject to an excess fee.

A note on repairs

We deliberately keep this section near the end because it is the detail most people forget to check before buying, and it matters more than most of the specs above once the phone is a year or two old. The rear glass panel on the Titan Pro 16 Max can be replaced independently of the display, unlike some competing phones where a cracked back means replacing the whole rear housing. Genuine replacement parts are stocked directly by our authorised repair partners, and a rear glass replacement typically takes under an hour when booked in advance.
